This trip can work as a standalone adventure, or in combination with other destinations in Uganda. The itinerary below starts and ends in Entebbe, but we can arrange transfers to and from the mountains no matter where you are coming from. 

The itinerary can be customised to suit your fitness levels, time constraints, budget, and wider travel plans.

Itinerary

Day 1: Entebbe

Fly into Entebbe International Airport. Upon arrival, clear Immigration, collect your luggage and leave the airport to meet a driver for the transfer to Karibu Guest House. Relax and spend the night preparing for the adventure to come.

Overnight: Karibu Guesthouse

Day 2: Kasese

After breakfast, depart at 8:00am for the cross-country road transfer to Kasese. Taking between 7 to 8 hours, you will arrive in time for  dinner and an overnight stay. Get a good night's sleep to prepare for the challenge ahead.

Day 3: Rwenzori Mountains

After breakfast transfer to the base camp where you will be briefed by your guides at Trekkers Hostel Kilembe (1450m). The trek begins with a climb to Sine Camp at 2,596 meters, an altitude lift of 1146 meters.

Overnight: Sine Camp

Day 4: Rwenzori Mountains

Hike to Mutinda camp at 3688m, giving you an altitude gain of 1092m. in the afternoon at Mutinda, you can climb up to the Mutinda look-out at 3,975m. Apart from the breathtaking views, this hike also helps with acclimatization before the trail takes you to higher summits.

Day 5: Rwenzori Mountains

Hike to Bugata camp at 4,062m, giving you an altitude gain of 412m through the valley of unique plant species, streams and waterfalls. A number of steep ridges, mud and boggy section, and high steps make this section of the trek difficult, but the rewards are worth it.

Day 6: Rwenzori Mountains

Hike to Hunwick’s camp at 3,974m via Bamwanjara pass at 4450m. There are excellent views of the main peaks here.

Day 7: Rwenzori Mountains

Summit Mt Baker at 4,842m and sleep at Hunwicks camp at an altitude of 3974m. 

Overnight: Hunwick's Camp

Day 8: Rwenzori Mountains

Summit Margherita peak at 5,109m before descending to Bujuku Caves for overnight.

Day 9: Rwenzori Mountains

Summit Mt. Speke at 4,890m. Return to Hunwicks camp for overnight. 

Overnight: Hunwick's Camp

Day 10: Rwenzori Mountains

Descend to Kiharo Camp at 3430m. During the descend from Hunwicks, you have the option of summiting Weismann's Peak from Olivers Pass, before dropping down to Kiharo camp. 

Overnight: Kiharo Camp

Day 11: Rwenzori Mountains

Descend down hill past the moss covered rocks along rivers and beautiful forests back to the basecamp in Kilembe. After your debrief, you will be driven two hours to a hotel in Fort Portal for a warm shower and a comfortable bed! Alternatively, you can stay in Kasese and fly to Entebbe the next day.

Overnight: Fort Motel

Day 12: Rwenzori Mountains

Transfer back to Entebbe. Stop for lunch en route before pressing on to Entebbe Airport (5-6 hour total drive). Connect with you international flight out of Entebbe.
