What makes Apoka special?
Apoka is truly a part of Kidepo National Park. It's not uncommon for elephants, giraffes, and zebras to wander past your room as they traverse the savannah grasslands that stretch for miles all around. Kidepo is an extremely remote region of Uganda, which means few travellers experience this incredible corner of the country. Those that make the journey are rewarded many times over.
The views from Apoka, whether it's from the common lounge area, your private veranda, or outside stone bathtub, are breathtaking. The savannah stretches for miles only to be broken by the rising of mountains on the horizon.
Apoka is an idyllic lodge in a wild region of East Africa. It retains all the comforts required of a luxury lodge, the service is excellent, and the Kidepo Valley takes care of the rest.
Rooms & Amenities
Apoka has 10 spacious rooms, each with two queen size beds, a private en-suite bathroom, private veranda, and a large outdoor stone bathroom that's the perfect spot to relax and soak up the views after a long day's exploring.
There is a large central building where you'll find a bar, dining area and common lounge area which leads on to a swimming pool (which often attracts thirsty Antelope!). Needless to say the views from here extraordinary.
Activities at Apoka
Apoka Game drives: Apoka game drives are the best way to explore the far reaches of the park relatively quickly, getting close to the large mammals and predators safely.
Wildlife Walks: Step out on a trail, trusting in the skill and experience of your guide; knowing that without this friend it would all be a little too wild. The sense of vulnerability makes every walk a vivid experience.
Karamojong Cultural Encounters: The Karamojong have largely resisted the onset of modernity (although that is beginning to change) and still live traditional lives little changed from the time of their first arrival.
Please note that we do not handle lodge only requests. If you are planning a wider adventure in Uganda and want expert support, we are here to help and would love to hear from you.
