What makes Mihingo special?

Uganda is very often a fast-paced, adrenaline fuelled adventure destination. However, there are also plenty of options for those looking to combine Uganda's classic wildlife experiences with some of its more understated, charming, and relaxing countryside exploring.

Mihingo Lodge is the perfect example of this, and one of the most popular destinations for relaxing after gorilla trekking and classic safaris in the southwest of the country.

Like everywhere in Uganda, the lodge has no shortage of incredible views. Situated adjacent to Lake Mburo National Park, visitors are treated to sweeping views of the savannah grasslands, rolling hills and lakes from the lodge's clifftop pool or the private luxury rooms. Mihingo is the perfect place to break up the journey back to Entebbe or Kampala, and is the only lodge in Uganda that offers horse-riding and mountain biking safaris.

Rooms & Amenities

Mihingo Lodge has 12 luxury, tented rooms that blend into the surrounding environment. On the approach drive, the lodge looks like a natural extension of the forest it sits in. Each of the rooms have their own character, but all offer wonderful views and are separated to ensure privacy and tranquillity. Reading a book from your veranda overlooking Lake Mburo National Park, you really do feel like you are alone in the forest, with nothing but the sights and sounds of Uganda's countryside claiming your sensory field.

Every room has an en-suite bathroom and shower, and there is an early morning tea & coffee service if you want to wake up to fresh coffee as the sun rises over the savannah that stretches out for miles ahead of you.

Activities around Mihingo

Migingo Lodge is particularly special as it's the only lodge to offer horse-riding and mountain biking safaris. The wildlife in Lake Mburo National Park is more modest than in its bigger cousins in the southwest such as Queens or Bwindi, but that's part of its charm.

Of course, you can also embark on a classic game drive or boat safari around Lake Mburo where you'll find impala, zebra, waterbuck, topi and buffalo. If you're lucky, you might spot the recently re-introduced giraffe or the shy eland, who number over 100.
